Laura Ingraham ripped into President Obama's statement on the unrest in Ferguson, MO last night saying the President was acting more like a political pundit rather than showing actual leadership.
Filling-in for Bill O'Reilly on Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor, Ingraham said Obama was voicing "irresponsible and dangerous speculation" in his remarks and that he “stoked racial discord in America and sown more distrust between minorities and law enforcement.”
The syndicated radio talk show host hammered Obama for merely commenting on the situation in Ferguson for political purposes. She said Obama was trying to gin up support from his base to distract from the litany of failures he's been experiencing recently.
Ingraham's comments came during the "Talking Points Memo" segment with the opening headline "Our Presidential Pundit" and played this segment from the President's remarks:
The local authorities, including the police, have a responsibility to be open and transparent about how they are investigating that death and how they are protecting the people in their communities. There is never an excuse for violence against police or for those who would use this tragedy as a cover for vandalism or looting. There’s also no excuse for police to use excessive force against peaceful protests or to throw protesters in jail for lawfully exercising their First Amendment rights.
She then juxtaposed the statement with the President's divisive remarks after the Trayvon Martin and Professor Louis Gates incidents earlier in his presidency. "There is supposed to be a difference between being the President of the United States and a liberal commentator on Salon.com," Ingraham concluded.
