Another instance of violence involving an illegal alien surfaced this week in Maryland as Immigration and Customs Enforcement lodged a detainer against 46-year-old Salvador Gomez-Lopez.
Back in November, Gomez-Lopez was relieving himself at a bus stop when a fellow passenger approached and asked him to pull up his pants and find a restroom. Instead, an “allegedly drunk and belligerent” Gomez-Lopez reached into his backpack and produced a “razor-sharp box cutter,” according to WJLA. The illegal alien from El Salvador repeatedly stabbed the man about the face, neck, and stomach, which resulted in several deep cuts. Despite the bloody injuries, the victim was able to wrestle the box cutter away from Gomez-Lopez and survived.
When police arrived, the suspect was “uncooperative” and gave them a fake name. Investigators have since learned that Gomez-Lopez has two children and did odd jobs for a relative in Montgomery County. His trial begins in April.
“He faces up to 38 years in prison on charges of first-degree assault, second-degree assault and carrying a dangerous weapon with the intent to injure,” WJLA reports.
