Freedom Center and TruthRevolt founder David Howoritz argued in an opinion piece this weekend that it was already clear that the conservative establishment in Washington was not going to "fight fire with fire," opting, as they have time and again, for the “high road,” while the Left batters them with predictable, but effective, attacks on their character and intentions with yet another fabricated War on Women, War on Minorities, War on the Middle Class.

America is just three and a half months out from another crucial presidential election, and yet the Right is “spinning their wheels over whether they should appear moderate or loaded for bear, whether they should take the high road or the take-no-prisoners low road.” Horowitz argues that he knows which road they’ll choose: They’ll once again opt for “uplifting stories that highlight the virtues of the opportunity society they intend to restore when elected,” while their opponents portray them as misogynists, racists, champions of the one percent.  

The Left’s “monotonous and predictable” attacks are rolled out every year—their charges of a “war against women, war against minorities, war against the middle class”—are just as predictably never answered by the Right.

Democratic strategist Chris ​LeHane once said, “Everybody has a game plan until you punch him in the mouth.”

Where, asks Horowitz, is the conservative counterpunch?

There is none. And there will be none this year or in 2016 either.

Proof positive? Horowitz points to the RNC’s choice of Cleveland for the convention site rather than somewhere like the economically ravaged, 85%-minority Detroit where “anti-business, pro-union policies drove away prosperity” while “[p]olitical animosity directed at whites drove the city’s tax base to the suburbs.”

It is the leftist ideology that “imposes racial animosity on virtually every aspect of American life” and leftist policies that have “trapped millions of Hispanic and African American children in failing schools." It is the championing of the Welfare State that has “lured low-income citizens into a welfare system that will keep them in poverty forever.”

But until conservative leadership recognizes the need to "fight fire with fire,” call out those “responsible for racial injustice in our inner cities and for the hopeless futures that face the children trapped there,” Horowitz argues, the campaigns will remain “predictable”—as will the results.
