Homeland Security Chief Explains Why Obama Refuses to Say 'Islamic Terrorism'

Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson explained his reasoning why President Obama and his administration refuse to use the term "Islamic terrorism" when describing groups like ISIS, which the White House calls ISIL.

"I think that to call them some form of Islam gives the group more dignity than it deserves, frankly," Johnson said on Fox News Sunday.

Johnson said he hears from Muslim leaders all over America who say that ISIS is "hijacking" their religion of "peace and brotherhood" and that makes them resentful.

"Most victims of ISIL are, in fact, Muslim," Johnson added, "So it seems to me to refer to ISIL as occupying any part of the Islamic theology is playing on a battlefield that they would like us to be on."

Johnson didn't answer when asked if this wordplay has anything to do with political correctness. Instead he stated, "ISIL is a dangerous terrorist organization that has to be dealt with… I'm more concerned with that, frankly, than I am what two words we use to refer to them."
