A new book by Hillary Clinton's pastor will highlight the failed candidate's spiritual side and may even be paving the way for the Methodist Hillary to fulfill her longtime desire to be -- wait for it -- a preacher.

Written by Rev. Dr. Bill Shillady, Strong for a Moment Like This: The Daily Devotions of Hillary Rodham Clinton features a foreword by Hillary herself and 365 daily devotions written for her (mostly by Shillady) to keep her spiritually strong during the election campaign. As Secretary Clinton said in The New York Times (January 26, 2016), “My study of the Bible, my many conversations with people of faith, has led me to believe the most important commandment is to love the Lord with all your might and to love your neighbor as yourself. And that is what I think we are commanded by Christ to do. And there is so much more in the Bible about taking care of the poor, visiting the prisoners, taking in the stranger, creating opportunities for others to be lifted up, to find faith themselves that I think there are many different ways of exercising your faith.”

I'm no pastor, but I'm pretty sure Christ frowns upon inveterate lying, massive corruption, pathological vindictiveness, and totalitarian politics.

In an article in The Atlantic over the weekend, Emma Green writes about Hillary's supposed religious ambitions:

Hillary Clinton wants to preach. That’s what she told Bill Shillady, her longtime pastor, at a recent photo shoot for his new book about the daily devotionals he sent her during the 2016 campaign. Scattered bits of reporting suggest that ministry has always been a secret dream of the two-time presidential candidate.

Shillady declares that his book is intended to be inspirational, not political, and that Hillary does not have the ulterior motive of selling herself to voters who previously were unaware she had a religious side at all. “I do not believe that she encouraged me to write this book in any way to change the image of her," Shillady told Emma Green. But he also doesn't see Hillary actually pursuing a pastoral position in the Methodist Church, just "guest preaching."
