Goonies never say die and it sounds like they might be saying "sequel!" While a TMZ camera man was talking with 'Goonies' director Richard Donner, he asked the filmmaker (who worked on films like Lethal Weapon, Conspiracy Theory and Superman with Christopher Reeves) if Hollywood has lost its creativity because they are continually making films based on action heroes.
Donner said studios are smart and trying to make money, and when asked if he would join the club of directors using comic book heroes the director responded,
Uhh, if you call Goonies a comic book. We're doing a sequel.
When the cameraman asked if any of the original stars would return, Donner said he hoped they all would. Sean Astin, Josh Brolin and Martha Plimpton have been able to continue successful careers after the 80's film. Other actors are less familiar to the majority of the American movie and television audience. Donner did not expound on what the story line would be or what role the now adult stars would play in the Goonies sequel.
