For conservatives and football fans, one of the joys of Sunday's Super Bowl, apart from the exciting finish, is that the game wasn't politicized by players taking a knee during the anthem (a la Colin Kaepernick) or by halftime performers celebrating the Black Panthers (a la Beyonce). Sure, a couple of the ads got political, but that annoying virtue-signaling backfired on at least one company -- Audi, which was forced on social media to debunk it's own nonsense about the mythical gender pay gap.

But politics is the left's religion, so naturally progressives were disappointed that the game wasn't ruined by politics.

Newsbusters reports, for example, that ABC entertainment contributor Larry Hackett complained on Monday's Good Morning America that Lady Gaga's halftime performance wasn't politicized enough. "I kinda wish we were sitting here talking about something incredibly provocative," he whined, "maybe even outrageous that she would’ve done, that would’ve been something that was appropriate for the moment."

By "appropriate for the moment," he meant a political statement against President Donald Trump. Of course, politicizing the Super Bowl is not appropriate unless you believe that everything must be infested with, and dragged down by, politics.

"[I] know there are people that think the Super Bowl shouldn't be political, shouldn't be a venue for that." Exactly. But that's not good enough for a leftist hack like Hackett. "Our entire world right now is political" -- and whose fault is that? -- "and [Lady Gaga has] built her career on that. I'm not saying it had to be something you know, incredibly explicit or overt but she's made her life making incredible entrances, wearing meat suits, doing things that we all raise our eyebrows about. This had a certain coolness to it that again was very entertaining but I kept waiting for something that I didn’t expect to happen that would’ve made people gasp."

Translation: Hackett was disappointed that Lady Gaga began the show with respectful versions of "God Bless America" and "This Land is Your Land" and followed up by stating that we are "one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all." He wanted her to ruin the game for real football fans by making a lame statement of solidarity with immigrants or Islam.

Good for Gaga for putting on a pro-American show for all Americans, not just the ones obsessed with a social justice agenda.
