The state of Florida is telling its residents to expect to pay about $500 a month for health insurance thanks to a projected 13% increase in health care costs as a result of Obamacare. 

As the Orlando Sentinel noted, according to estimates which were released Monday, the state received submissions from all companies planning to offer coverage in the state, and projected the cost to be between $400-$600 for the average family:

The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation has completed its analysis of recently submitted health insurance plans from 19 companies in Florida, and also estimated the 2015 federal subsidies that such families could expect.

The relative success or failure of the President's signature health care law in Florida could prove to be a vital campaign issue in the presidential race in 2016, as well as for the contentious governor's race this fall. Florida's current governor, Rick Scott, is among the law's more outspoken critics while the former governor, Charlie Crist, has said he supports the law.
