Kerry Pickett at the Daily Caller pointed out something this weekend that many people probably forgot about. At the time that his "documentary" An Inconvenient Truth came out, Al Gore predicted that the planet was a mere ten years away from a catastrophic "point of no return" on climate change. That ten-year timer is almost up.
When Gore made the statement, Rush Limbaugh put a countdown timer on his website, and this year it will hit zero. Says Pickett:
The countdown clock on Limbaugh’s site has been running for nearly 10 years since Gore’s apocalyptic prediction about the earth as a result of greenhouse emissions. Less than a month remains in the countdown.
Gore predicted, when his film An Inconvenient Truth was first released at the Sundance Film Festival, that the earth would be in “a true planetary emergency” within the next ten years unless drastic action was taken to reduce greenhouse gases.
Sadly (for Gore), the models he relied on have proved unreliable. In fact, the alarmist predictions about climate have routinely turned out wrong. Can we assume past performance is a good indicator of future results in this case? Only timer will tell.
