On Tuesday's The Colbert Report on Comedy Central, host Stephen Colbert mocked Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal's views on evolution, sparking a Twitter reaction on Wednesday with the governor lobbing insults back.

During Tuesday evening's show, Colbert made it a point to highlight the fact that Jindal is a Rhodes scholar, has a master's degree in political science from Oxford, and graduated from Brown University with honors in biology. Colbert used this information to poke fun at the governor's faith-based stance of teaching evolution and creation in schools. "He's just a down home guy who's learned to stop learnin'," Colbert said of the governor.

Colbert added that Jindal is "off to an impressive retreat from knowledge, but there's a lot more science he can run away from":

For example, he should insist that thunder is just God bowling and lightning is God getting his picture taken with his bowling trophy.
