On ABC's This Week with George Stephanopoulos, Cokie Roberts attempted to debunk the notion that liberalism is on the rise.

The panel was discussing New York City's Mayor-Elect Bill de Blasio and his progressive approach to politics. Roberts insisted that his election is by no means a "resurgence of liberalism." Here is her entire statement:

It’s also true that this notion that there’s this resurgence of liberalism. There’s a difference between populism and liberalism...We never see a poll that shows more than about 20 percent of Americans identifying themselves as liberals.

Maybe some see a difference in populism and liberalism, but the distinction is getting murkier by the day.
