Former Navy SEAL Carl Higbie got an earful from CNN anchor Kate Bolduan when he dared question the authority of the mainstream media. Bolduan erupted in angry claps and shouted him down when he knocked The Washington Post's use of anonymous sources over the Trump/Russia allegations. When Bolduan wasn’t busy screaming, the other panelists jumped in to shame the conservative guest, as well.

“I’ve sat here very quietly listening to all this BS, quite frankly,” Higbie stated when it was his time to talk. “And did you listen to anything [Nat’l Security Adviser] McMaster said today? Where he said, ‘I was in the room, that didn’t happen, nothing inappropriate was shared.’” 

“You’re basing all these allegations off of one, or maybe two sources which CNN reports, ‘Two former officials knowledgeable of the situation confirmed to CNN that the main points of the story are accurate,” Higbie contested. “Two former officials? Tell you what, come out, name those people, and then we’ll have something to talk about.”

Bolduan started calmly, explaining to Higbie, “One, we protect sources. Two, it’s not just CNN. It’s Washington Post, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, CNN, ABC, NBC.”

“Who are the sources?” Higbie asked repeatedly. “Oh, because they’re hiding behind this anonymity.”

Bolduan could no longer hold back the boiling steam:

“Oh, puh-lease! Puh-lease! [angry clapping] Do not even start with me that you’re just going to attack sources. That is ridiculous! …

“You cannot attack the stellar reporters of CNN who have their sources and would protect their sources.”

Higbie calmly replied, “It’s the stellar reporters of CNN that I’m going to attack right now and guess what, I don’t believe them because they’re staying anonymous. If they stand behind the story, come out and face the camera.”

CNN’s Kirsten Powers jumped in with Watergate/anonymous sources comparisons and then another political commentator Keith Boykin leaned in and lectured the Navy SEAL as if he was a child:

“Carl, you’re embarrassing yourself. You’re embarrassing yourself, your party, and your country. You should not be doing this. You’re a better person than this. I’m ashamed for you.”

The explosive interview ended up as fodder for Fox News’s Tucker Carlson who rightly analyzed on his program:

“‘Be skeptical,’ says the retired Navy SEAL. ‘Be quiet!’ screams the 33-year-old news anchor, clapping her hands in rage. How dare you question the authorities, in this case, the news media. ‘You cannot attack the stellar reporters of CNN,’ she says, as if this settles the debate.”

The mainstream media promised to do better, but as we can clearly see here, this is (the same old) CNN.
