Chris Matthews continued the MSNBC mantra of the day by starting his show saying that in order to be a part of the GOP, you must personally "hate" President Obama. Calling it the HOP (Hate Obama Party), Matthews says they oppose anything with Obama's name on it.

You must not only oppose him, the political leader, but everything with his name on it. You must not only hate the President's healthcare plan, you must support any act of sabbotage you can get your hands on.

Matthews then goes on to say that those who oppose Obama's signature healthcare legislation are like southern states that tried to secede from the United States.

Just as the Southern states began moving toward sucession in the victory of Abraham Lincoln, those with the same mentality today began meeting on ways to sabotage this new president's program even before he uttered it.
