Armed with iPads, and other smart devices, House Democrats protested GOP Rep. Darrell Issa Thursday on the House floor over a previous incident where Issa cut the microphone off in the middle of Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings' speech on March 6.
The devices' screens showed a picture of the Issa hand gesture that cued Cummings' microphone to be cut. The presiding officer Rep. Mike Simpson (R-ID), shut the staged protest down, citing it as a "violation of house rules," according to the New York Daily News. Simpson was quoted as saying, "Members are not allowed to stage an exhibition."
Leading the protest was Rep. Daniel Kildee (D-MI); after Simpson shut down the exhibition and asked for "decorum in the House," the gathered Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi, resorted to boos and jeers.
