Chris Matthews still thinks Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) should address all Americans who have "birther" points of view. It's something he discussed on Friday's Hardball with Alex Wagner, when she made the comment that the Speaker is being drugged by the Heritage Foundation, and he brought it up again on Monday's show with guests James Peterson and Howard Kurtz. 

After noting the races of each of his guests, Matthews said the discussion of race was always a "tricky business" because,

... it's all around us, and we're swimming in it to some extent! And yet we don't know how to define it, or limit it, or push away from it.

Turning to Kurtz Matthews shouted, 

About the leadership, John Boehner refuses! Has refused to challenge the nutballs in this party!

Matthews continued with his narrative of what birthers think, commenting that he believes Donald Trump always "plays the birther card" and decrying what he believed were inappropriate comments on immigration over the weekend.
