Bloomberg's Jonathan Alter Says Hillary Clinton is Old News

"She’s kind of old news and people in America like what’s new."

Long-time political reporter Jonathan Alter, now at Bloomberg, is not convinced Hillary Clinton is a slam-dunk. Today he cautioned that "a lot can happen, and it may be that she is old news."

Alter was a guest on Hugh Hewitt's radio program Wednesday night. Host and guest were discussing the outlook for 2016 when Hewitt asked Alter about Hillary Clinton:

Hewitt:

She’s been a Washington insider for 20+ years. She’s a classic Washington figure do you think that sells in 2016?

Alter:

Very good question. I think you’re right. The premise of your question’s right that it may be that people are really read to go for what they have for so many occasions and that’s a governor. And governors will really have a significant advantage in 2016. And that is to the detriment of potentially of Hillary Clinton. And I think the people who assume that she is some kind of shoe-in because she’s the best-known candidate are wrong. A lot can happen and it may be that she is old news. Not that she has a bad record; you and I probably disagree on that, but that she’s kind of old news and people in America like what’s new.
