President Trump revealed his long-awaited list of Fake News Award winners Wednesday night on Twitter. Though there was no shortage of contenders to sort through and select, it will surprise few people, if anyone, to learn that The New York Times tops the list while CNN appears on it no fewer than four times, Fox News reported.
The list was posted at GOP.com, which crashed from the onslaught of online visitors after Trump tweeted out the link. The website noted that “studies have shown that over 90% of the media’s coverage of President Trump is negative.” It went on to call 2017 “a year of unrelenting bias, unfair news coverage and even downright fake news.”
Coming in at first place was The New York Times’ Paul Krugman for his prediction that the stock markets would never recover from Trump’s election. The Dow closed above 26,000 Wednesday for the first time ever. Oops.
Krugman was followed by ABC News’ reliably unreliable Brian Ross for his report that Trump advised former National Security advisor Michael Flynn to make contact with Russian officials during the 2016 campaign.
The list went on to include such mainstream media mainstays as TIME, The Washington Post, and Newsweek and such fake news highlights -- or rather, lowlights -- as the video which implied that Trump overfed fish during a visit with the Japanese prime minister and the report that the wife of the Polish president refused to shake Trump's hand.
“And last, but not least," Trump concluded, "'RUSSIA COLLUSION!' Russian collusion is perhaps the greatest hoax perpetrated on the American people. THERE IS NO COLLUSION!”
Trump went on to note that “Despite some very corrupt and dishonest media coverage, there are many great reporters I respect and lots of GOOD NEWS for the American people to be proud of!”
