The United States has admitted 45,732 refugees since October of 2016 and nearly half, 45%, are Muslims.
Last week, the State Department loosened President Trump’s initial cap of 50,000 on admitting refugees and did so “quietly” according to The New York Times. This could mean the number of weekly admissions will nearly double from 830 per week to over 1,500 per week starting next month. All predictions indicate that by the end of September, the U.S. will surpass 70,000 entrants, putting totals much closer to the higher ceiling President Obama set. This is delighting pro-refugee activists.
Refugee tracker Wrapsnet breaks down the data by religion on the refugees. Below is a redacted list via Refugee Resettlement Watch:
Baptists (1,591)
Buddhists (1,380)
Catholics (2,713)
Christians (6,890)

The 45,732 number includes the 3.5 months Obama was president. Since Trump’s inauguration, the number of Muslim refugees has reduced slightly.
