Williams: Geller Like a Pyromaniac

Says Geller about self-promotion, not free speech

Juan Williams, fired from NPR for voicing concerns about flying with Muslims, appeared on Fox News Thursday night saying he supported free speech, but Pamela Geller missed the mark with her "draw Mohammed" cartoon contest.

Williams said Geller was more about self-promotion than free speech.

"She's like a pyromaniac that goes before the judge and says, 'Oh yeah, I was setting those fires just to see how fast the fire department could respond,"' Williams said.

When Hannity told Williams he was blaming the victim, Williams denied it.

"She intentionally was provocative in her actions," Williams responded.

According to Williams, Geller is not in the same league as what he called "legitimate" journalists and authors, such as Salman Rushdie. He even said cartoonist Molly Norris who started, and then withdrew from, Everybody Draw Mohammed Day in 2010 was deserving of protection because she was a real cartoonist.

Geller told Hannity that she has had to increase her security detail since Sunday's failed terror attack targeting her event in Garland, Texas but, despite reaching out to the FBI and Homeland Security, she has not heard back from either agency. Geller was the subject of a direct threat against her life posted online earlier this week, the threat is believed to be from people associated with the terror group ISIS.
