Today was the funeral for New Jersey State Trooper Sean Cullen, who was killed in the line of duty last week. In attendance were of course family members and friends, fellow officers, the Lt. Governor and others. Not in attendance: Gov. Chris Christie. Christie has faced criticism in the past for missed funerals. Today much more so.
When it was announced that the Governor would not be in attendance and was sending Lt. Gov. Guadagno in his stead, there was no explanation why, though many residents asked. But now we know why. It was so he could conduct a fake interview of Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump for CNN.
This was not some minor event Christie missed out on. This was a big deal in New Jersey.

Mediaite notes that Christie's approval ratings in New Jersey are abysmal. And after his run for President, his popularity among Republicans nationally is forever tarnished, not that it was every very good to begin with (he was, for example, hated by conservatives and Trump-supporters alike for his embrace of President Obama after Hurricane Sandy).
If any of his political destiny was tied to his being liked in his home state, that time is over. His entire future now depends on his remaining faithful and helpful to the Trump campaign.
The Freedom Center is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Therefore we do not endorse political candidates either in primary or general elections. However, as defenders of America’s social contract, we insist that the rules laid down by both parties at the outset of campaigns be respected, and that the results be decided by free elections. We will oppose any attempt to rig the system and deny voters of either party their constitutional right to elect candidates of their choice.
