As we approach the 15th anniversary of 9/11, memorials have already begun. But unlike 15 years ago, when the nation was more united than ever against a common enemy, America is fractured and even the mention of that fateful day in September 2001 is offensive to somebody.

Take for instance this Panama City, Florida Walmart, which put up a display of Coca-Cola products to depict the twin towers. A sign overhead reads, “We will never forget.” That offended a couple of shoppers who took a picture and posted their disgust online:

Apparently, it was too consumerist for the easily offended since it was selling Coke. As more backlash came in, the store took down the display.

Traveling north to New York, a Muslim group in Oswego is demanding a crucial fact be removed from a memorial for 9/11 victims: “Islamic terrorists.”

The encryption at the monument reads:

On September 11, 2001 nineteen Islamic terrorists unsuspectedly boarded four airliners departing east coast airports to hijack the planes and carry out a series of coordinated attacks against the United States. This is a tribute to all the lives lost that day and to the heroic sacrifice of all who rushed to help. As Americans, we honor their memory by living our lives in freedom. We will never forget.

The Muslim group would rather it say “terrorists” or “al-Qaeda terrorists.” Thankfully, City Manager Donald Castellucci isn’t budging:

"I don't live in a politically-correct world. I live in a historical fact world and cross terrorism, whether it's American homegrown, Christianity, Islamic, you call it what it is."

As the record shows, nineteen Islamic terrorists slaughtered 3,000 Americans on 9/11. We will never forget. We won't change the facts and if we want to drink some Coke in remembrance of those lives lost or even buy a few cases of soda to give to our first responders in honor of their sacrifices, it IS a free country... for now.
