Dems Want Full Investigation of Trump’s ‘Business Dealings in Foreign Countries’

Strange, they didn’t much care about Hillary Clinton’s financial interests overseas.

After decades of ignoring Hillary Clinton’s political pay-for-play via donations to the Clinton Foundation from foreign countries, Democrats are suddenly concerned that Donald Trump’s business dealings overseas might influence how he governs from the White House.

A probe request into Trump's company has been made by Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) and ranking Democrat member of the House Oversight Committee in the form of a letter to Chairman Jason Chaffetz. It read in part:

Mr. Trump’s unprecedented secrecy and his extensive business dealings in foreign countries raise serious questions about how he intends to avoid conflicts of interest as president…

Now that Republicans control the White House and Congress, it is incumbent on you and other Republicans to conduct robust oversight over Mr. Trump — not for partisan reasons, but to ensure that our government operates effectively and efficiently and combats even the perception of corruption or abuse.

Note how careful Cummings was to say this wasn’t political payback for the committee’s multiple investigations into Hillary Clinton, but we suspect it is anyway.

As The Washington Times noted, responsibility for Trump’s business dealings has been passed to his children. President-elect Trump told 60 Minutes over the weekend that his company is no longer top priority in his life:

“This is big league stuff. This is our country. Our country is going bad. We’re going to save our country. I don’t care about hotel occupancy. It’s peanuts compared to what we’re doing.”
