Shortly after President Obama delivered his press conference where he promised Americans he will "fix" the failed rollout of Obamacare by allowing them to keep their canceled plans for up to a year, MSNBC's Alex Wagner held a discussion panel where they went through the usual talking points familiar to any regular watchers of the network: ACA will help millions get healthcare, ACA is better than the old system, Republicans have no alternatives, etc.
At the discussion's tail-end, Wagner turned to former Vermont Governor Howard "scream" Dean, as if seeking positive reassurance in her dark moment of liberal disillusionment, and stated:
Um, I was sort of stunned that he stood on stage as long as he did, Governor, and uh...He seems a wounded man today.
Howard Dean immediately chimed in to comfort Wagner's dismay by repeating that comforting phrase "law of the land".
This will get better. The fifth year is an awful year as a lot of pundits have said -- it's true! There's a lot of piling on and I think some of his own supporters are demoralized. The website will get fixed, it will get better, Obamacare will be the 'law of the land', and guess what -- it will work.
Alex Wagner, now cheerfully perked up, gave a response:
I like ending on that high note. Thank you, Governor.
The changing of the guard then quickly shifted over to Andrea Mitchell who casually carried on Alex Wagner's "high-note" by lauding the President's speech.
If you like your plan, you really can keep your plan...at least for a while, and that is the message today from President Obama trying to keep his original promise to the American people and turn some of the negativity with his healthcare law into a positive.
All hail the king!
