Tuesday, on The View, the hosts had Will Cain from the Blaze on as a guest host. During the show, the topic of O.J. Simpson came up, and specifically the notion of how race played into the trial.

"Finally, the justice system worked," said Sherri Shepherd of the outcome of the trial. Her premise, and Whoopi Goldberg's as well, was that the finding of "not guilty" proved that black people can be found innocent of crimes. Groundbreaking.

In response to Shepherd's comparison to "The Central Park Five", Cain stated that the men were "tried by the media. O. J. wasn't". Whoopi disagreed, saying O. J. was. When Cain pointed out that O. J. was found innocent, Whoopi said "maybe that's how the folks saw it," referring to the actual jury.

Cain eventually put it in star terms: "Was O.J. guilty or innocnent," he asked. Both women immediately replied "I don't know!" Whoopi continued by saying we don't know what went on in the jury and we should honor their decision, in direct opposition to her earlier assertion that O. J. had been tried in the media.

There are historic injustices in our justice system. The Central Park Five case is one of them. But recognizing injustice is a long way from calling the O.J. Simpson case an example of justice. In attempting to latch onto the racial aspect of the story, the hosts are ignoring the evil act that was committed. the rich, egotistical man who committed those acts, and the tragedy of the deaths that are on his hands.

That, too, is injustice.
