VA Secretary: Disneyland Doesn't Measure Wait Times So Neither Should VA

Because you know, getting to see Mickey and Goofy is no different from getting that life-saving medical care.

One thing presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump has gotten right is his assertion that our veterans are not treated properly, nor with the level of respect they deserve.

Painfully illustrating this point is the Veterans' Affairs own secretary, Robert McDonald, who on Monday invoked a most bizarre justification for the VA's inordinately long wait-times for medical care:

"When you go to Disney, do they measure the number of hours you wait in line?" McDonald asked rhetorically. "Or what's important? What's important is, what's your satisfaction with the experience?"

Yes. The VA Secretary actually said that. Because you know, once you see Goofy, you forget all about whatever life-threatening condition you're afflicted with.

If ever there were a statement more decoupled from reality, we're not sure what it is.

House Speaker Paul Ryan rightfully blasted the VA Secretary on Twitter, stating the health of our veterans is no laughing matter.

"Veterans have died waiting in those lines," Ryan wrote in response.

Indeed they have. But what's a few deaths to a Washington bureaucrat?
