Uninsured Opposition to Obamacare Rises to All-Time High

56% oppose, 22% approve

As Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid calls Americans who have publicly complained about the real-world impact of Obamacare on their health insurance liars, the beleaguered law’s standing among the uninsured has worsened, a major blow to the administration’s concerted efforts to improve Obamacare’s public image.

The Kaiser Family Foundation’s monthly Health Tracking Poll found for February that opposition to the ACA among the uninsured reached an all-time high at 56 percent. The same poll found that the negative opinion of the law among the uninsured likewise reached new levels, a devastating 22 percent.

As The Daily Caller points out,

The Obama administration’s outreach efforts to educate the uninsured on Obamacare also appear to be falling flat. Just 24 percent of the uninsured population were able to cite March 31 as the last day to purchase coverage on health care exchanges, and just 12 percent believe they know “a lot” about the Obamacare exchanges.

Sixty-three percent of uninsured respondents said they either knew nothing at all or only a little about the new health insurance marketplaces.

Fifty-one percent of the public at large prefers health insurance plans that may cost more money but cover a “broader range of doctors and hospitals,” compared to 37 percent that prefer a cheaper plan with fewer options.

While Reid stands on the Senate floor blaming Republicans and the Koch brothers for the law’s poor public image, the American people have consistently soured on the president’s signature legislative achievement as the rhetoric of Obamacare has met with the reality of its implementation.
