It has been a long time coming -- an American president who will unabashedly acknowledge that an undivided Jerusalem is and will forever remain the capital of Israel. That was the promise Republican nominee Donald Trump made to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during their meeting Sunday.
During their meeting, Trump vowed to dismantle the disastrous Iran nuclear deal, continue to provide military assistance, and most profoundly, finally accept the congressional mandate to recognize an undivided Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
This is a strong show of support for the Jewish State and, if Trump were to follow through on these promises, would render a big blow to the Left, whose members are decidedly anti-Israel. It would also negate the weak-kneed "pro-Israel" liberals -- many of whom support policies that endanger the Jewish State out of a misguided belief that kowtowing to savages will bring peace to the region.
In an official statement, the Trump campaign said:
"Finally, Mr. Trump acknowledged that Jerusalem has been the eternal capital of the Jewish People for over 3000 years, and that the United States, under a Trump administration, will finally accept the long-standing Congressional mandate to recognize Jerusalem as the undivided capital of the State of Israel."
...Trump agreed that the military assistance provided to Israel and missile defense cooperation with Israel are an excellent investment for America,
In addition to discussing Israel's model for border security fences, Trump told Netanyahu that if elected, he would also tackle the Iran nuclear deal and strengthen our collaboration in business and technology sectors. What's more, the Republican presidential nominee said, "there will be extraordinary strategic, technological, military and intelligence cooperation between the two countries."
"Peace will only come when the Palestinians renounce hatred and violence and accept Israel as a Jewish State," Trump said following the meeting.
Netanyahu traveled to New York to meet with both of the presidential candidates, but it is unclear what Hillary Clinton vowed to do for Israel except take our relationship "to the next level" and continue to shove a "two state solution" down the country's throat.
