Trump's Carrier deal to keep manufacturing jobs in Indiana has a 60 percent approval rating among Americans, according to a Politico/Morning Consult poll.

Approval for the deal spanned across party lines, receiving an overwhelming 87 percent of Republican support, 54 percent of independents, and 40 percent of Democrats. 

Beyond the Carrier deal, Trump's proposal to impose a 35 percent tariff on imports from companies transferring jobs overseas also has a majority backing at 74 percent of voters, with 53 percent of Republicans and 43 percent of Democrats in favor. 

On Trump's negotiations with private businesses to stay in the United States, 51 percent of voters favor it, while 62 percent favor Trump giving businesses tax incentives or breaks to keep their jobs at home. 

Trump still has a long way to go if he wants to increase his popularity numbers, however, as only 48 percent of voters view him favorably against 47 percent unfavorably. 27 percent of voters view the President-elect very unfavorably. 

Will there be honeymoon stage for Trump? His actions in the coming weeks until the inauguration will dictate that.
