TMZ Posts Video Of Ray Rice Knocking Out Fiancée

Flashback: Rice says he appreciates fans' support after "everything that I've been through."

TMZ has posted a video showing what occurred in the elevator between Ray Rice and his then fiancée (now wife), and it's disturbing. The video (above) shows Rice deliberately striking the woman, who crumples to the ground unconscious. Rice then calmly picks her up and drags her out of the elevator.

When the first video showing him exiting the elevator with his unconscious fiancée first emerged, Rice admitted to the domestic violence allegations and was given a two-game suspension, a ruling by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell that prompted outrage from many and led to an apology from Goodell and a league-wide rule change on consequences for domestic violence.

Most analysts do not believe that the new video footage will alter the NFL's ruling.

FLASHBACK: Despite the domestic violence ruling, 25k+ Ravens fans cheered the running back enthusiastically at a preseason practice in July. Via CBS Sports:

The Ravens practiced Monday night at M&T Bank Stadium, and a reported 25,000-plus fans entered to watch an evening summer practice.

Oh, and they apparently cheered like crazy for running back Ray Rice, who was suspended two games for assaulting his current wife this offseason in an Atlantic City hotel.

As ESPN.com writes, "There were many fans wearing Rice's No. 27 jersey, including several children."

After the warm reception by fans, Rice said he appreciated the show of support after "everything that I've been through."

Are Ravens fans terrible people? Of course not. Is Rice irredeemable? We'll see. But going forward, is it too much to ask that fans keep it to at best a tepid applause in situations like this? And, please, no self-pity from the guilty party.

UPDATE: ESPN is reporting that after reviewing the newly released video, the Baltimore Ravens have cut Rice from the team.
