For George Stephanopoulis, the Republican Party is a dinosaur destined for extinction unless it goes "populist." Sunday on ABC's This Week, he asked guest Mary Matalin if, in order to fix income inequality and garner votes for future elections, the GOP should adopt a "more populist feel to be successful the next time around." Matalin, amused by the question, said Americans care more about finding a job than they do about income inequality.

Stephanopoulos: Won't the party have to have a more populist feel to be successful the next time around?

Matalin: Populist? It just has to be common sense and it has to be full-throated. The biggest challenge of our time is not income inequality, it is job creation, which the president's signature issues have - domestic, starting with affordable health care - have reduced unemployment. Do you think people who are unemployed or are making low wages care more about that they don't have a job than how much you are making or any of us are making? I don't think so. That does not grow the economy.
