Continuing the social media legacy of the Obama administration, the White House called on users of the popular photo-sharing site known as Instagram to join in on its first-ever Worldwide InstaMeet and virtually tour the historic residence.
"President Obama and the First Lady are committed to opening the doors of the White House and truly making it the "People’s House," states the official White House invitation.
Friday evening, the form closed for applicants who were asked to apply for a spot online. Word of the sign-up was spread through the hashtag, #WHInstaMeet.
Those who end up being accepted by the White House to partake in the event will have the opportunity to "filter their way through" 1900 Pennsylvania avenue to "share its history, art, and architecture with their followers."
The virtual event will be held on March 21. Instagram users are urged to follow these official accounts: @WhiteHouse, @MichelleObama, and the Chief Official White House Photographer, @PeteSouza.
