Al Sharpton believes that President Trump has created such an atmosphere in the country that any spark could set off a new civil war. The reverend of race-baiting recently spoke to Politico’s Off Message podcast and sent out his latest warning that the U.S. is on the brink of a race war and how Trump needs to cool the rhetoric to calm things down.

“We’re in a poisonous atmosphere that is being increased by the president of the United States. It’s like turning on the gas in a room,” Sharpton said. “Any match could lead to an explosion, and we’re getting that kind of atmosphere from this president.”

In less than two weeks since violence erupted between Antifa and white supremacists in Charlottesville, Virginia, the Left is scouring the country to erase all vestiges of the Confederacy from public view and they’re not interested in doing it peacefully. Meanwhile, civil rights leaders remain more concerned about the tiny fraction of active racist groups that remain in America instead of the ever-increasing mobs of Antifa which continuously carry out violence by any means necessary to achieve their goal of driving out hate and inequality. If there’s any gas in the room, it’s Antifa and the spark is race-baiters like Sharpton.

Before appearing on the podcast, Sharpton gave one of his trademark fiery speeches at his National Action Network headquarters in Harlem “just off Malcolm X Boulevard,” Politico noted. “Vintage Sharpton” was on display, the report added, as he called for Pope Francis to return Trump’s gift of a copy of Martin Luther King, Jr’s  “I Have a Dream” speech.

Ignoring his own rhetoric over the last few decades that has set back America’s race relations, Sharpton sees Trump not as a racist or anti-Semite, but as one who brings out the worst in people.

“I think he has empowered anti-Semites and racists,” Sharpton said. “I think he has brought them from the shadows into the mainstream and I think he’s emboldened them, and I think that’s a dangerous course for the country.”

For Sharpton, he is much more forgiving of his own shortcomings, as Politco noted: “Sharpton has his own checkered history full of accusations of anti-Semitism. He bristles when those are brought up, saying that it’s usually willful misinterpretation by others seeking division, though some is reflective of his own learning curve.”
