Ed Schultz welcomed liberal Media Matters' writer Eric Boehlert and fellow Republican basher Goldie Taylor to his show Monday to discuss President Obama's pre-Super Bowl interview with Bill O'Reilly of Fox News. The trio all agreed that O'Reilly chose to ask the president questions his audience wanted to hear. Schultz lamented over the FNC host not talking to Obama about income inequality, jobs or the positives of Obamacare.
Boehlert said Fox News was "obviously propaganda" and is glad Democrats are realizing this now. Schultz then soft balled a biased question to Goldie Taylor,
Were you surprised at the level of disrespect showed to the president?
Taylor responded that Bill O'Reilly had a "very small base" of viewers to appeal to and that his viewers expected to hear the FNC host ask those questions of Obama. Maybe Taylor has not seen the ratings but Fox News, and O'Reilly have consistently beaten MSNBC in the ratings. Schultz then continued,
Did you think that Fox News, Golidie, failed to make the president look bad in this interview? It seemed like O'Reilly was trying to corner the president instead of getting a real answer.
Taylor and Bohlert responded that Obama seemed prepared for O'Reilly's style this time around and were glad President Obama decided to "call out" Fox News for their coverage of his scandals.
