Scarborough: Govt Shutdown a Win for Dems if 'They Spin it the Right Way'

"You’re telling me a three-day shutdown wasn’t worth guaranteeing health care for millions of truly disadvantaged children?"

On Tuesday, Morning Joe Scarborough marveled that he is "sounding more like" a Democrat every day.

"More?" How could "more" be possible?

As Joe attempted to assist the Dems in a palatable sell of their government shutdown concession in the fight against Republicans regarding DACA, Scarborough remarked:

“If I’m a Democrat, and, of course I’m not -- but God knows I’m sounding more like one every morning...if I went back to my town hall meeting and they said, 'You backed down,' I would say, ‘I did what?! I did what?!'”

Scarborough may want to look into the meaning of "of course" and "not."

Talking to guest Noah Rothman, writer for Commentary Magazine, the Democrat-in-denial asked:

“You said they lost something, but they got CHIP funding, right?”

Rothman explained:

“Yes, but they sacrificed the narrative that it was Republicans who are trying to hold CHIP funding hostage, and then CHIP funding is gone. It’s off the table, and now we’re talking about DACA. DACA is now the issue that was shutting down the government, so we sort of skipped a step there.”

Joe explained how he would play it as a politician in the melee. "If" he were a Democrat, that is:

“‘[I'd say] I guaranteed by standing up to Donald Trump and making sure he was out of this process, I guaranteed CHIP funding. I guaranteed by my fighting, you’re telling me that a three-day shutdown wasn’t worth guaranteeing health care for millions and millions of the truly disadvantaged children?' I mean that’s a win for Democrats if they know how to spin it the right way.”

Joe Scarborough wants the political sphere to know what he'd do if he were a Democrat. He does an excellent job of that -- and that may be the only thing he does excellently -- every single morning. And not just lately. Not by a long shot.
