Outspoken feminist comedian Sarah Silverman wants to make it clear to the world that she really hates marriage, calling it “barbaric” and suggesting that alleging she wants to get married is rooted in anti-Semitism.
Silverman’s latest unorthodox declaration came as a response to the “bigoted” accusation that she actually wanted an orthodox relationship. Via NY Daily News:
The Emmy-winning actress and comedian shut down rumors of an engagement to beau Michael Sheen in a series of tweets Sunday night.
"Just read that I wanna get married which is hilarious b/c I will never get married," Silverman wrote. "Why would I want the govt involved in my love life? Ew. It's barbaric."
Silverman, 43, tweeted in response to a recent Star magazine article, titled "Sarah Wants A Ring." The magazine claimed she had been hinting to "Masters of Sex" star Sheen that she's ready to tie the knot by leaving "pictures of engagement rings all over the place."
"That s--t never bothers me b/c who cares but I feel like this one is bigoted," Silverman tweeted. "The Jew girl MUST want a RING! Yich."
Silverman has made a living off of smearing orthodox beliefs and defending far-left social views, particularly on abortion. Last year she helped raise money for a pro-abortion group by auctioning off a “vag napkin.” A few months later, she appeared in an abortion PSA featuring a pro-abortion Jesus, who says, “Fertilized eggs aren’t people, people are people.”
Silverman also frequently references her Jewish heritage, but mostly to make sure that her fans realize she rejects it. In a recent interview with Larry King, Silverman explained that she’s “not Jewish,” except when it accidentally “oozes” out of her:
“I'm not Jewish by -- I have no religion," she told King. " I'm just Jewish in the way that it oozes out of my pores uncontrollably. I can't -- it's beyond my control, but personally I have no religion.”
