According to a report in the Washington Examiner, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) introduced an amendment Wednesday that would remove the pipeline of federal monies that fund Planned Parenthood.
Hoping to rally other senators to get behind his proposal, Paul expressed his outrage against the abortion giant that receives hundreds of millions of dollars each year from the U.S. government in a statement:
The continued disregard and disrespect for human life at Planned Parenthood, a partially taxpayer-funded organization, is shocking and appalling.
Paul also reacted to the two undercover videos recently publicized showing associates of Planned Parenthood setting prices on trafficking infant body parts:
Recent video revelations, involving potentially criminal activity, make it more obvious than ever that this organization has absolutely zero respect for the sanctity of human life and is an affront to the most basic human dignity enshrined in our founding documents. Not one more taxpayer dollar should go to Planned Parenthood and I intend to make that goal a reality.
As the Washington Times points out, Republican Tennessee Rep. Diane Black introduced a bill ahead of Paul on Tuesday that would put a one-year moratorium on Planned Parenthood funding so that Congress could conduct a full investigation into the videos' claims.
