House Speaker Paul Ryan defended the Constitutional right to bear arms during a Sunday talk show appearance. Ryan was a guest on NBC's Meet the Press where host Chuck Todd showed he is not a fan of the Second Amendment.

"I grew up hunting with Remington 7400s which are semi-automatic rifles. Cosmetically they look different. They function exactly the same," Ryan said.

"We can go into all of these issues other than to say people have a Constitutional right to bear arms. People have a Constitutional right to have semi-automatic rifles."

At that Todd had to interject and challenge the idea that any American should be able to get a semi-auto.

"There's nothing in the Second Amendment that says you have a right for a semi-automatic." Todd stated. "You can regulate."

Ryan agreed that Congress can regulate, noting that there are regulations that restrict automatic rifles. Ryan said the point wasn't what caliber rifle was used but instead who was using it.

"Let's not forget that this is terrorism, let's not forget that this man was radicalized," Ryan said.

Ryan said that there is a real problem with Islamic radicalization that needs to be dealt with.
