Rubio: I'd Speak on Trump's Behalf at Convention

"I most certainly would be honored to be considered for that."

Letting bygones be bygones, senator Marco Rubio has vowed to help Donald Trump defeat Hillary Clinton this election.

After losing to Donald Trump this past primary season, enduring numerous personal attacks from the real-estate mogul (he coined the nickname "Little Marco"), Rubio has pledged to help Trump in the general election.

Though Rubio has not specifically endorsed Trump, he did tell CNN that he would speak at the convention on his behalf, even considering it an honor.

"I want to be helpful," Rubio said. "I don't want to be harmful because I don't want Hillary Clinton to be president. My policy differences with Donald Trump — I've spent a lot of months talking about them, so I think they're understood."

"I most certainly would be honored to be considered for that," Rubio told Tapper.

Rubio's comments mark a slight shift from comments he made on the Today show last month when he said that Trump would not be helped by having him on his team of cheerleaders.

"Donald Trump would be best served by having people out there working for him that agree with his policies and are enthusiastic about this campaign and enthusiastically supporting the things he has stood for," Rubio said.

The Florida senator did not indicate whether his recent flip-flop came from GOP pressure.

The Freedom Center is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Therefore we do not endorse political candidates either in primary or general elections. However, as defenders of America’s social contract, we insist that the rules laid down by both parties at the outset of campaigns be respected, and that the results be decided by free elections. We will oppose any attempt to rig the system and deny voters of either party their constitutional right to elect candidates of their choice.
