The National Organization for Marriage says it can no longer support presidential bids of Senator Marco Rubio or former Florida Governor Jeb Bush. Both men responded to the Supreme Court's marriage ruling Friday by saying that while they are disappointed in the ruling, there is little that can be done.

NOM president Brian Brown is trying to rally support from politicians for a constitutional amendment on the issue. In an email to Breitbart News, Brown slammed Rubio and Bush for "caving":

Walker, Santorum, Jindal, Huckabee, and Perry have all made strong commitments at this critical time. Rubio and Bush, on the other hand, are simply caving. Period. Right now I can’t see conservatives supporting either.

Rubio issued a statement that was heavy on supporting the idea that individual states have the ability to change how they define marriage, not the Supreme Court:

While I disagree with this decision, we live in a republic and must abide by the law. As we look ahead, it must be a priority of the next president to nominate judges and justices committed to applying the Constitution as written and originally understood.

In his statement Jeb Bush called for protecting religious freedom, but not a constitutional amendment:

It is now crucial that as a country we protect religious freedom and the right of conscience and also not discriminate.

Other Republican hopefuls have come out strong against the court ruling, Bobby Jindal saying "just get rid of the court" in Iowa, Mike Hucakbee calling the court "imperial" and calling for Americans to reject the decision.
