The White House is pushing new propaganda that is claiming an outbreak of chaos in epic proportions if Senate Republicans fail to quickly confirm a new Supreme Court justice to replace the empty one left by the recent death of conservative Justice Antonin Scalia.
With help from ATTN:, Vice President Joe Biden warns of "absolute chaos in America" like we haven't seen since the Civil War if Republicans don't get it into gear:
"How do you have a unified republic without equal application of the law throughout the country?"
Biden is asked to suppose a 4-4 split in the court for something like Brown v. Board of Education:
"Well, there would've been absolute chaos in America. In the district of Delaware, no segregation in the classroom, but in Topeka, Kansas, you could segregate; or in South Carolina or in Maryland. Imagine the chaos that would prevail. It goes back to almost like the Civil War -- slavery is all right in the South, bad in the North."
Biden also said a disrespect for the law will grow if a justice isn't confirmed soon.
"Not to let the Constitution function is totally irresponsible and it's never happened this way before," he added.
But it has, and Biden as Senator was at the center of the rally to stop filling a vacated SCOTUS seat during an election year. During his House speech, he urged President George H.W. Bush to follow "the practice of a majority of his predecessors and not, and not name a nominee until after the November election is completed."
But as soon as President Obama wants to hand the empty court seat over to his preferred liberal nominee, Chief Judge Merrick Garland, Republicans are going to start the next Civil War for waiting until after the November election.
