The readers of Time Magazine have chosen Vermont Senator and presidential candidate Bernie Sanders as Time's Person of the Year. Sanders beat out Pope Francis and human rights activist Malala Yousafzai.

This says much more about Time magazine's readership than anything else.

The magazine announced that Sanders garnered 10% of the readers' vote in an online poll. Malala received 5.2% of the vote while Pope received 3.7%.

President Obama was the choice of only 3.5% of the readers.

Donald Trump was the preference of 1.8%, Hillary Clinton, 1.4%.

The editors of Time magazine will chose the Person of the Year, the person they determine had the greatest impact on the news this year. The selection will be announced on Wednesday.
