Poll: Trump Takes First Place in Iowa over Walker

A new CNN/ORC poll shows that Donald Trump has "knocked" Wisconsin governor Scott Walker out of the lead in Iowa.

Trump romped to 22% support among likely Iowa caucusgoers, followed by 14% backing for retired pediatric neurosurgeon Ben Carson and Walker trailing at 9%.

The survey, conducted Aug. 7 to 11 — following last week’s first televised GOP primary debate in Ohio — found two-thirds of Republicans likely to vote in the caucuses still undecided.

About one-third of voters who have picked a candidate say they have chosen Trump and 14% say they have chosen Carson. Eleven percent say they are backing former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina.

The poll reveals that Iowa voters see Trump as the "unpolitician" with 44% saying he is "most likely to change the way things work in Washington."

The former reality show star and self-promotion impresario also “tops the list by wide margins when GOP caucusgoers are asked which candidate they trust most to handle the economy, illegal immigration and terrorism,” CNN reported.

Among men, Trump leads Walker by 15% but it's Ben Carson who does better with women -- the physician leads Trump with the women voters by 5%.
