According to the Left, America hates Donald Trump. Then again, according to them back in 2016, so did the voters; and yet he was elected. Despite the greatest wish of left-wingers, they aren't solely representative of the country. Proof of that comes in the form of a Rasmussen poll released today, comparing Trump's approval with that of Barack Obama at the same point during his first year in office.
Per the study, President Trump's approval rating is currently at 46 percent; his disapproval registers at 53 percent. On December 28th, 2009 -- in the final month of his first year in the Oval Office -- Obama's approval rated at 47 percent, with his disapproval sitting at 52 percent. On December 29th -- just one day later -- America's first biracial president's approval dropped to 46 percent.
If approval ratings at the time of inauguration are considered, Obama fell much farther during his first year in office than has Trump.
On Inauguration Day, January 20th, 2009, Obama's approval hovered at 67 percent, his disapproval correspondingly low: 37 percent. When The Donald was inaugurated on the same day in 2017, Rasmussen found him to have a 56 percent approval, with disapproval for the new president at 44 percent.
Generally speaking, approval ratings for presidents at the time of their inauguration are relatively high, and President Trump has risen above his only once so far -- on January 26th -- by reaching 59 percent. Obama's approval rating never rallied to his initial score during his first year in office.
If one watches only the major news networks, an unavoidable conclusion would be that Obama blew the minds of every American with his incredible turn as Commander-in-Chief, while Donald Trump has repulsed America. But once again -- as so often with the Left -- the facts tell a different story entirely.
