In his weekly address, President Obama touted his penchant for circumventing Congress to advance his own agendas. With practically a promise to do it again, the president wants no resistance in creating "new pathways of opportunity" for Americans to get ahead.

He is blaming Congress for tying up new trade agreements and "a lot of other good ideas" that would help American workers and families and give the U.S. "the competitive edge in a new economy." 

"But America doesn’t stand still," Obama said. "That’s why, on issue after issue where Congress has failed to act, my administration has partnered with mayors and governors across the country to advance economic priorities that most working families in America are in favor of right now."

Obama is making good on his belief that business owners alone aren't responsible for their own ventures -- "You didn't build that" -- but must rely on the government to pave at least part of the way. What's worse, he puts words in Americans' mouths by saying it's what they want: "Some of these [employment] victories have been small. Some have been quiet. But they’ve added up to a big difference for working families across America. And that’s what matters to me. Because it matters to you."
