His state may have suffered the worst terror attack since 9/11 and the worst mass shooting on American soil, but that doesn't mean president Barack Obama has called Florida Governor Rick Scott. Speaking with Fox and Friends on Tuesday Scott said that Obama had not called him even though the White House reported that Obama called France's socialist president Francoise Hollande about the terror attack in that country.

Business Insider reports that Scott said that Obama had not called but a member of his staff did.

Meanwhile the White House was quick to point out that President Obama had been in touch with President Hollande of France after a police commander and his wife, also a police official, were stabbed outside their home - the attack live-streamed on Facebook.

"Both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to degrading and destroying ISIL and standing against the broader scourge of terrorism," the White House said in a statement, using an acronym for Islamic State.  

Obama spent part of Tuesday responding to claims that he won't say the phrase "radical Islam" to describe attacks like the one in France or the shooting up of a nightclub in Orlando. Obama mocked those that said he should use the term by asking what difference it would make.

While President Obama did not call Governor Scott, former president George W. Bush called to offer condolences while the presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump also called to see how Scott and the state of Florida were doing.
