Newtown Anniversary PSA Pushes More Gun Control

"On December 14th, we'll have a moment of silence for Newtown. But with 26 more school shootings since that day, ask yourself, is silence what America needs right now?"

As the one year anniversary of the Newtown, CT, Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting approaches, the left's gun control agenda is exploiting every avenue possible for its message.

On MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell Reports, Democratic Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz and host Mitchell are bemoaning Congress' "astounding lack of accomplishment" on "any kind of new gun laws, despite what happened in Newtown." Mitchell shows this new PSA that comes from Moms Demanding Action for Gun Sense in America along with the Mayors Against Illegal Guns. The ad features a menacing ticking clock along with pictures of young children in school ready to have a moment of silence for the victims of Sandy Hook while an apparent gunman approaches the door, drops an empty duffel bag and enters the school to begin a rampage. A somber voice over begs the question is a moment of silence what America really needs.

On December 14th, we'll have a moment of silence for Newtown. But with 26 more school shootings since that day, ask yourself, is silence what America needs right now?

Mitchell calls the ad "pretty powerful stuff." The only thing that is powerful about it is its lack of respect and politicization of a tragedy.

After the emotionally charged ad, Mitchell spoke to Schultz about a recent interview.

I interviewed Nicole Hockley yesterday, whose son Dylan was killed among the victims. She's here in Washington trying to persuade people to take this up. What can you say to her?

Schultz replied:

What I say to her is that we need to make sure that the Republican leadership in Congress is hearing moms across the country like her.

Once again, the left touts how the Republican leadership is responsible for all of the stalemate bills in front of Congress but fails to get to the issue at hand; more gun control will not stop another Newtown. But with more commercials like this one that tickle their ears and stir their most heart-felt emotions, they will continue to ignore reality and live in a fantasy world.
