Netanyahu Fires Back Against Kerry's 'Settlement' Comments

With friends like this, who needs enemies?

Earlier this week, Secretary of State John Kerry blamed “Israeli settlements” for the current wave of Palestinian terrorism sweeping the tiny country, proving yet again that he is either one of the world’s most uninformed statesmen, or that he is actually trying to usher in the destruction of the Jewish State. (Given his role in the Iran deal, it could be the latter.) With trademark fortitude, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu corrected the former senator in no uncertain terms during a press conference on Thursday, explaining that tensions at the Temple Mount, along with a systemic hatred of Jews among Palestinians, are the real reasons for the rise in violence.

While not invoking the Secretary of State’s name directly, Netanyahu’s comments left little room for doubt he was addressing Kerry’s erroneous conclusions. CNSnews reports:

“They're attacking us not because they want peace or don’t want peace,” he said. “It’s because they don’t want us here [in Israel]. If they’re frustrated, I assure you that frustration will continue because we're going to continue to be here.”

“As far as settlements are concerned,” Netanyahu continued, “this is not a result of a ‘massive’ wave of settlements because there’s not been a massive wave of settlements.” The attackers themselves were open in explaining their motivation, he pointed out. “They leave behind Facebook pages in which they cite and repeat Palestinian incitement about the al-Aqsa mosque. All the lies that are said about us trying to bring down the mosque or change the status quo, they cite that as the reason for their activity.”

Of course, in classic fashion, the State Department is now denying that Kerry ever blamed Israeli "settlements" for the wave of Palestinian violence. According to CNSnews, State Department spokesman John Kirby said, “We’ve never said – the secretary did not say – that settlements were to blame for the current violence."

Actually, Kerry's exact words were: “There’s been a massive increase in settlement over the course of the last years and there’s an increase in the violence because there’s this frustration that’s growing.”

Clearly, self-honesty is not a concept familiar to the Obama administration.

In the last month alone, eight Israelis have lost their lives and roughly 70 have been injured at the hands of Palestinian savages armed with knives, guns and vehicles with which to plow into crowds of innocent bystanders. Israel has enough enemies without friends like President Obama and Sec. of State Kerry.
