The principal of a North Carolina high school recalled every student’s yearbook because one student quoted Donald Trump for her senior picture.
Richmond Early College High School in Hamlet is a small school of just over 200 students. But the controversy over one student’s senior quote, “Build that wall - Donald Trump,” was too much for this small school’s administration.
Richmond County Schools issued a statement citing “errors and inappropriate comments” as the reason the principal had to recall the 22 yearbooks. Apparently, a photo of the girl’s picture and the quote was posted to social media and some took issue. The school is having the yearbooks reprinted without the quote.
“As a district, we do not and will not tolerate inappropriate conduct toward any of our students,” the district’s statement read. “In each situation, our goal is to provide for the well-being of all of our students and prevent recurrences of inappropriate conduct.”
Some members in the community recoiled at the district’s explanation, writing back, “Inappropriate? What you really mean is a student’s political views disagreed with your agendas and they were subsequently censored.”
Another wrote, “When did the first amendment [sic] become inappropriate?”
Is this even America anymore?
Daily Mail published a blurred picture of the “offending” picture:
