Mom Upset that Child's School Promotes Abstinence

"I wonder how the girls felt about it in class."

A mother, who also happens to be an author and New York Times bestseller of young adult novels, is offended that her son's school asked students to apply a sticker to their biology book that promotes abstinence as the best way to avoid unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.

She expressed her horror and outrage on Twitter in a series of posts:

 

 

 

 

 

 

Young added that her son was told that if the sticker wasn't on the books the following day, they would have to meet with an administrator. 

She also complained about the "TERRIBLE PEOPLE" who run the school district for voting to remove two pages from a biology textbook because it didn't adhere to Arizona law that requires texts to give "encouragement and support to childbirth and adoption as preferred options to elective abortion."
