Milbank: Hillary Put Politics Over Policy

Washington Post columnist knocks Clinton's international engagement

In his Wednesday column, Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank criticized Hillary Clinton's tenure as Secretary of State in a column about John Kerry's difficulties in the same position.

Noting that Kerry has been heavily criticized for his role in the Israel-Hamas cease-fire discussions, Milbank drew a comparison between Kerry's penchant for engaging in a host of difficult international issues with that of his predecessor, who, in Milbank's opinion, had more pressing concerns dictating the agenda:

His predecessor, Hillary Clinton, preserved her political prospects by showing a preference for social media over international hotspots. But Kerry has risked his standing repeatedly, personally leading negotiations over Sudan, Ukraine, Iran, Syria and Afghanistan.
